City Hall Linkage

Cecilia Rasmussen does the LAT take on the new Pasadena City Hall. Actually, it's mostly a historical roundup, which is actually refreshing to read. She did recall one memorable anecdote that we had forgotten:

The entire civic center area has undergone a major face-lift in the last seven years, beginning with the demolition of an enclosed mall called Pasadena Plaza in 2000, which had become an eyesore. Residents will long remember how a bulldozer smashed through the mall as onlookers listened to the strains of classical music and the crowd cheered.

Ah, yes, the old Pasadena Plaza. Say what you will about the "gentrification" of Old Town and the loss of mom 'n pops, at the least the growth got rid of the Plaza. Thank goodness.
