An FC Weekend

Over the weekend, we had the chance to explore some of the events recently covered on Foothill Cities, so why not share?

The Shakespeare Festival at the Huntington Gardens proved quite entertaining. At various intervals throughout the gardens, actors performed scenes from a variety of Shakespeare's plays. They were garbed in costumes authentic to the Bard's time, right down to the rather obtrusive codpieces. Our favorite scene was probably a selection from Romeo and Juliet, which conludes with Rome slaying Tybalt, in spite of Mercutio's somewhat daft interpretation of his character and a strange predilection for furious grunting the moment combat commenced.

Later in the afternoon, after lunching at the classic (and costly) Pie 'N Burger, Centinel & Co. stopped by the "Open House" exhibit at the Art Center. Yes, the exhibit was well-designed and fascinating. No, the homes of the future do not look enjoyable in the slightest, least of all the asparagus tip complex, which was apparently making even the children cry.

A good weekend, to be sure, and certainly better than this fellow's.
