Friday Briefs (Pasadena)

The BIGGEST development in Pasadena: The LAT posted this article last week, but I was hoping to make it the centerpiece of some extended thoughts. Since those will be some time in coming, enjoy this article which gives a succinct overview of the numbers, issues, and players involved in the massive developments (largest in city history) proposed for the old Ambassador College property. -- Tony Barboza, LAT

Affordable Housing Bunny Alert: Granted, it's only one part of three issues, she deals with, but the AHB does pop it's head up over at West Coast Grrlie Blather. Swing by for her thoughts on housing, development, and what a pain public transportation can be. She's not entirely pleased with the 260, but she should try riding the 187...to Claremont. That'll wipe out your day. -- WCGB

Franks defends Iraq War: For U.S. Gen. Tommy Franks spoke at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Wednesday, tackling the conduct of the Iraq War. Among the more curious factoids: he attended the same high school as Laura Bush, a mere year ahead of her. -- Patricia Jiayi Ho, SGVT

Keep it pretty: Apparently, Pasadena Police Commander John Perez just read this article. Perez wants residents and neighborhood associations to redouble their efforts to keep their streets and homes clean to reduce crime (following the "broken window" theory). His plans and suggestions over at the Star-News. -- Mary Frances Gurton, PSN

Praise for "Cuttin' Up": The Pasadena Weekly has good things to say about the current production at the Pasadena Playhouse, unlike the Daily News. -- Julie Rigott, PW

AP to Grill Bogaard: No, not that AP, the invaluable Aaron Proctor. Rumors abound as to what the Saturday morning meeting will entail, but some speculators see Proctor being offered a spot on a city commission. Like they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Then again, it's hard to tell if Bill Bogaard has any enemies. -- Aaron Proctor

The only grilling I'll be doing with Bogaard is ordering myself a grilled cheese sandwich.

I wouldn't call him an enemy. I just hope he likes my choice of eyeliner.
